ILSAC Draft Specification

At the September 30 and October 1 ILSAC/Oil meetings, new proposals were submitted by both sides but no agreement was reached.  ILSAC issued a further version on October 5th with tightened Sequence IIIG WPD and Sequence VID XW-20 limits.   The trade associations will now reconsider their positions in an effort to seek agreement on the final specification.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. and representatives from Chrysler LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation, through an organisation called the International Lubricants Standardisation and Approval Committee (ILSAC), jointly developed and approved an ILSAC GF-5 minimum performance standard for engine oils for spark-ignited internal combustion engines.
