Since 2004, Infineum has had a cross-business REACH team monitoring the development of the regulation and preparing each business sector of the company for life under REACH. The team has included all aspects of the business including Supply Planning, Technology, Marketing, Sales, Procurement and Health Safety and Environment (HSE).
Projects have been run to identify the substances that the Infineum legal entities are required to pre-register and register, including both substances that are put onto the market in Infineum products, and intermediates and side-streams. Within this exercise, work was undertaken to identify substances of high concern that may come into the scope of Authorisation.
Procurement has contacted all suppliers to Infineum in Europe, and those who import into Europe for Infineum, to ascertain their plans for REACH. The aim of this exercise has been to ensure that there will be supply continuity after the pre-registration window has closed and that we can continue to provide our products to Infineum customers without disruption. Over 99% of the questionnaires sent out to our suppliers have now been returned and the responses indicate that no materials supplied to Infineum will be removed from the market at pre-registration.
Infineum is also actively participating in trade association REACH implementation activities with the relevant industry bodies, as well as with regulatory authorities and associations such as European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC).
