Infineum Wins Awards for Sustainability Initiatives in Italy

Sustainability - 17 January 2025

Infineum’s Vado Ligure site recently won the Best Business Experiences award and the HR Mission 2024 award for two sustainability initiatives. Initiated by the HR team at Vado Ligure, the ‘Holiday Solidarity Fund’ and non-violent behaviour educational campaign aim to equip colleagues with resources to respond to challenges in their personal lives and at work.

The ‘Holiday Solidarity Fund’ was established in 2024 to foster a culture of care among colleagues. Colleagues in Italy have an option to donate their holidays to colleagues in need due to serious or extraordinary personal circumstances. This initiative won the Best Business Experiences award by Federchimica, the national federation of the chemical industry with over 1,450 Italian companies as members. This award recognises the best business practices and projects by Italian chemical companies that promote safety, health, and sustainability.

The award was received by Federica Modugno, HR Manager Italy & Spain and Emanuele Melis, Giovanni Roetto, Alessandro Bruzzone (L-R), members of the work council.

Alessandro Bruzzone, Shift Team Leader at the Vado Ligure site and a member of the work council remarked, “The Holiday Solidarity Fund is a practical resource that boosts team spirit and solidarity among our colleagues in times of difficulty. We are proud to have introduced this initiative conveying the important message that the company actively supports colleagues, as well as how we can overcome challenges together as a team.”

The ‘Holiday Solidarity Fund’ also won the HR Mission 2024 award in the Sustainability category. This award was presented by the Associazione Italiana per la Direzione del Personale, a network of over 30,000 HR managers and professionals in Italy.

Federica Modugno, HR Manager Italy and Spain, receives the award on behalf of Infineum.

An educational campaign promoting well-being and non-violent behaviour, rolled out at the Vado Ligure site in January 2024, was also recognised by the Best Business Experiences award. This includes an anonymous and confidential psychological programme for colleagues and their families. A session on non-violent communication was also held, which encouraged colleagues to practice active listening and mutual understanding to build healthy relationships. Additionally, the site participated in a research project aimed at understanding how organisational factors hinder or promote well-being in Italian companies.

Reflecting on the two initiatives, Federica says “Our employees’ well-being is an important cornerstone of sustainability at Infineum. These projects represent a fundamental step towards supporting our colleagues through challenging times and being attentive to the quality of life in and out of the company.”
