The #InfineumCares monthly series spotlight volunteering efforts that our colleagues from our sites around the world take part in. With a drive to deliver positive impact in places where we operate, we actively encourage our colleagues to volunteer their time in initiatives that uplift the environment and people in these communities.

35 colleagues from our Singapore Plant and Business Technology Centre had volunteered in Infineum’s annual tree-planting event as part of Singapore’s OneMillionTrees movement, planting 50 trees along Mandai Road.

The OneMillionTrees movement is a nationwide effort to plant a million more trees across Singapore from 2020 to 2030. With trees playing an important role in providing a cooler environment and regulating the water cycle, the movement aims to improve Singapore’s urban environment and resilience towards climate change. Besides contributing towards this target, colleagues also had the opportunity to interact with each other while working together to plant the trees.

John Hong, Asia Pacific Sales Director, says “Many thanks to all colleagues who participated in our annual tree-planting event! Despite the heat, it was heartening to see everyone take pride in knowing that we have played a part in making Singapore a little cooler and lower in carbon footprint in the years to come.”

Reflecting on his participation in the tree-planting event, Wui Kar Soon, Singapore Plant Manager, says “We enjoyed the sun, sweat, soil and a little bit of rain during the tree-planting process together, as well as exploring an area of Singapore we did not visit often. Colleagues also got the hang of planting trees quickly, with the 50 trees getting rooted into the ground safely and efficiently.”

Yap Seok Chen, Controls and Risk Manager, adds “Thank you to all colleagues who participated enthusiastically in this tree-planting event that contributed towards improving Singapore’s natural environment, and ultimately towards building a City in Nature for future generations.”
