#InfineumCARES: A Family Holiday for a Cause

Volunteering - 28 February 2025

The #InfineumCARES monthly series spotlights the volunteering efforts of colleagues from our sites around the world, as part of our aim of supporting people and communities.

This month, we feature Giordano Malossi, EMEA Supply Chain Manager at our Vado Ligure site, who embarked on a unique holiday in Nepal with his family.

Giordano volunteered for two weeks at a school in Nepal through Volunteer Initiatives Nepal, a non-profit organisation that matched interested volunteers to a range of community projects serving disadvantaged groups. With Nepal’s public schools in marginalised areas facing challenges such as poor infrastructure and inadequate training, volunteers play an important role in supporting teachers at these schools.

During his time at the school, Giordano helped to conduct fun-filled English, Math, Science, sports and art lessons for local students, together with his son and daughter. His wife supported a healthcare programme which served locals in surrounding communities.

Taking part in an overseas volunteering project was something Giordano and his wife wanted to do for many years after being inspired by friends who volunteered regularly, but had postponed doing so until their children were older. With his children also wanting to join in, participating in this volunteering initiative as a family was a cherished experience.

Giordano says, “We learnt more than we taught through this experience, and I am delighted to have shared these rewarding hours with my family. Besides helping the local community, we also got to immerse ourselves in a new culture by staying with a Nepali host family.”

Hoping to inspire other families to participate in similar initiatives, he adds, “Volunteering is a truly unique way to experience a country. This was one of my family’s best holidays and I wish we could have done it earlier!”

Infineum actively encourages our colleagues to give back to their local communities and beyond through volunteering. For more information about Infineum’s sustainability initiatives, please visit: https://www.infineum.com/sustainability/.
