Infineum recognised for building a cleaner future

Infineum’s fuel and lubricant capabilities are celebrated for keeping the world moving while lowering emissions, in a new Sustainability report by Advanced Oxford.

The Advanced Oxford report on ‘Powering up for the Green Recovery’ explores Oxfordshire’s role in building a cleaner future. It features organisations within the region which have the technology and capabilities to enable a post-pandemic green recovery.

Robin Scott, Director of Product Innovation and Engineering at Infineum, explains how developing dedicated lubricants and fuel additives reduces the global carbon footprint linked to transport.

“The average new car now produces around 45% lower carbon emissions than at the turn of the century,” says Robin. “This is made possible by efficiencies delivered by better fuel chemistry, engine design, and developing lubricants matched to the specific requirements of each engine.”

Infineum’s Sustainability Manager Michael Savage added that new requirements from engine makers, following industry trends towards electric engines and e-fuels, will see Infineum playing a new role to reduce the environmental impact of global transport.

“Infineum has also been working on getting its own house in order and we plan to publish our first external report on Sustainability in Spring 2021,” concludes Michael.
